Sam Raj alias Neelan a leader of the Karuna Faction was among the detainees said the Officer in Charge of Saliyawewa Police Station A M Gunatileka.

He used to operate as a leader within the LTTE for 7-8 years, added Gunatileka.

They were travelling on Anuradhapura Puttlam high way when they were stopped at a check point.

Speaking to Sandeshaya OIC Gunatileka said, "apart from two magazines, 15 bullets and a cellular phone, we have found 6 inch revolver concealed in the left shoe of Sam Raj".

Prasad Purnimal Jayamanne reported from Puttlam that All detainees were remanded until 3rd of June by the Puttalam Acting Magistrate Abdul Cader.
