Three more killings have been reported from the east. Poniyaya Thamilwanan, a youth was shot dead Saturday morning around 9.30 pm in the eastern town of Chenkaladi. The mother of the deceased, Pakiya Leelawathi accused The LTTE of the killing. Giving evidence at the inquest she said that her son was held captive by the LTTE since last September and released in January. The shooting is said to have taken place when the deceased visited the LTTE office in response to a order for him to call over for questioning. In Akkraipattu of the Ampara District 29 year old Sundram Sillayan succumbed to injuries from a grenade attack. The victim was living in a welfare camp set up for the displaced due to the tsunami. The attack has taken place around midnight and the attacker has been able to flee the crime scene. Meanwhile in Trincomalee, an identified body with head injuries was washed a shore. |
