Your views: Himaw Arana brings out many things that we have not known about Amaradeva and his music, it's a fitting tribute to the great
musician. Amaradeva's greatest contribution is the verses he sings with Vimala Amaradeva from Mahagamasekara's poetry ‘ Prabudda’.
Long life maestro. Amaradeva is like a great mountain that's half covered with water. Each time we explore the depth a new dimension is seen.
He is a saint of our time- The maestro takes beyond the meaning of lyrics.He paints a picture with music and voice. Archive of Himaw Arana programme is a great recourse on Amaradeva. I’d like to show my appreciation and give a big thank you to the BBC Sinhala Service for their documentary on Pandith Ameradeva, the foremost Sri Lankan maestro of Sinhala music. The efforts taken to deliver this comprehensive programme, I feel, to a great extent, have given us the opportunity to dive in to the variable depths of maestro’s music which speaks to your heart and soul. When Pandith Amaradeva was awarded the Ramon Magsasay Award, a public tribute was held at BMICH, Colombo in September 2001. I was fortunate enough to attend this occasion enriched with the maestro’s timeless musical creations. During his address, Pandith Amaradeva expressed greatest wish of hearing his music played by the London Symphony Orchestra. I think it is safe to assume that no steps towards this end have been taken. I wonder if it is possible for the BBC Sinhala Service to make this wish a reality. In return this would be a dream coming
true not only for Pandith Amaradeva but his fans too. I am sure this will also be a great musical experience to all those
who appreciate classical oriental music. Pandit Amaradeva is a true ambassador of Sri Lanka, he made a good name for a war torn country, a true son of Sri Lanka. Well
done Pandit Amaradeva, wish you a good health and many more fascinating years. It is in deed a pleasure to make a memorial comment through the BBC about my most favourite singer from Sri Lanka, Dr. W.D.
Amaradewa. Basically, I have no words to admire the work of Maesto Amaradewa to the motherland in the means of so heartfelt
way; his voice, to improve the desires of millions of listeners of higher calibre. We have to understand that he as an individual
had fully performed his duty to the mankind. Taking him as The Example, what we have done so far to any sector of the human
society..? Therefore, I consider we all must take him as a good portrait to follow on, to honour him with us giving the BEST
as much as possible through our means of involvements; be it work, social services or art or business of what ever it comes
in our way. Devoting us in this way our own missions will make Many Amaradewas, who will also be honoured whole heartedly.
I wish Maestro Amaradewa a life ahead with plenty of pleasure, supreme health and huge amount of future work of his own beautiful
tune and tone. May he live long, Happy and Healthy? I further wish him the blessings of the Triple Gems. Great musician Amaradewa is now passing his 8o's.his whole life dedicated for to entertain others through music. He has received
thousands of appreciations, awards, rewards and generous thanks by words and papers. But seems nobody inquired about his worries
and needs. At least this stage, some one come forward and organise a programme to raise some funds to help him for his needs
of old age. It is million times better than empty thanks. Government and music lovers should do what he need now, not after
his death. Amaradewa is rich with music but poor in cash. Respect him with what he needs of the time. It is nice to see a leading artist /music director giving credit to another leading legend, which is not very common in the
srilankan musical field. May he live long for the whole world to hear the voice of Sri Lanka. It is a great journey. He has been able to blend the Indian classical tradition with our folk tunes with great success. There is no musician like Amaradeva. We salute you Sir! Amaradeva has entertained us since singing his classic, 'Peenamuko Kalugange'. The song, 'Naya Nathi - Biya nathi' which
he sings with his wife is a tribute to the nation. Pandith Amaradewa, my loveliest great singer and greatest musicologist, with a golden voice. May the Noble Triple Gem Bless

Amaradevas music and definitely his music is one of the commonplaces where I still can meet all those Srilankans who appreciate
his music. I feel his divine classical music goes beyond the ethnic and religious boundaries and replaces hatred with love
and peace. His ragas give me peace and I wish the same peace will penetrate all Srilankan hearts and erase the hatred and
create peace just like the phrases of Lord Buddhas Dammapada. I wish you a happy birthday Maestro and wish you may live many

to hear the beautiful soothing voice of Pandit Amaradeva brings me closer to our Sri Lanka.I take this opportunity To wish

has been the sucess in his music journey.When I was watching his concert in Houston ,Texas 2006, I was amazed and delighted
with the language he used.It was so refined elevated Sinhala language and that made me think of the beauty of Sinhala language.Also,
his command in English was so perfect.He translated almost all songs into English before singing.( He was a superb tranlator
too.)As a matter of fact, this is what is lacking in currunt music trend in sri lanka.Some musicians can not express themselves
even in Sinhala.He never sang to people for mere enjoyment and always wanted to enlighten people in certain secular concepts.I
wish him a long healthy life. He is the msot talented and the most skilled mucician we have in this country. To me I see my father in him. I wish him a
long healthy life to keep continue his servieces to Sri Lankan music. Minnesota Sri Lanka Friendship Foundation was fortunate host Dr. Amaradeva in his last visit to USA in 2006. He was recognized
by the Sri Lankan community with a life time acheivment award for his contribution to the music and culture of Sri Lanka.

It is maestro Amaradeva’s wish that this book will eventually become a text book in our Sri Lankan schools and universities,
especially in our sinhala literature curriculum. I think, fulfilling Amaradeva’s wish is the highest tribute and accolade
our country can bestow on this extraordinary human being, for the immeasurable services and precious gifts that he has rendered. We are the most unfortunate nation in the world who fallen from one of the richest country in asia in fifties to poorest in

warm wishes with happy and long life. You maestro will remain in our hearts for ever. Dr.Amaradeva is the most talented musician Sri Lanka has ever. I saw Pandit Amaradeva in 1976, and still get chills when I listen to him today. I especially liked the comment by Dr. Fonseka,
and the song by Mr. Weerapuli. Much has been said about Amaradeva over the years, but these two individuals said things that
I don't believe I have heard before. Dr. Fonseka makes an interesting point about being redundant in how we always talk of
Amaradeva as a living legend, and Priyan's song offers an interesting antithesis. He has written a song that speaks of Amaradeva
as a singer, and as a person, but not diminishing the talent and ability that have made him into the "legend" that people
speak about today. Beautifully done! The program was brilliant success. I am very glad to see this great musician honored in this way. I was especially touched
