Sunny (John), an Asian footballer, plays for an English team but a bitter racist experience forces him to leave the club.

Meanwhile Southall United football club is going through a major crisis. The team has no stars, no sponsors and no spectators.

Shaan (Arshad), the club's captain, hopes to win the cup and so hires coach Tony Singh (Boman), who in turn ropes in Sunny as the new striker.

As the training intensifies, so does the team spirit as they slowly reach their goal in this sporting drama.

Unlike the blockbuster hit film, Chak De India, director Agnihotri concentrates on the subject of racism rather than the game itself as suggested by the movie's title.

Racism exists everywhere but Agnihotri goes to extremes in hammering the point home when there is no need, diluting viewers' interest.

Performance wise, John Abraham enacts the role of a typical footballer with realism and flair looking every inch a professional footballer.

Renowned for his comic roles, Arshad Warsi this time portrays a sombre and serious character with ease, proving yet again the versatility of a very talented actor.

No Bollywood is complete without a love angle and this is rightly provided by Bipasha Basu playing Romana, the team's physiotherapist who falls for the charms of Sunny, the David Beckham of Southall United!

On the whole this film is more emotional, with sporting moments few and far between.

Watch it if you are an ardent John Abraham fan!
