The
film opens on Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh), India's once famous hockey
player who misses that decisive, moment against Pakistan and is
blamed for his team's defeat in the finals.
With
his career ruined, a disgraced Kabir disappears from the public
eye.
Seven
years on, he reappears as a coach for a bunch of feisty girls who
know nothing about the game.
Kabir
is given three months to train his team for the Australian Hockey
World.
It
is here that the girls' determination, dignity, integrity and skills
are put to the test whilst Kabir gets another chance to reclaim
his lost honour.
This
sports based film turns out to be a spellbinding experience due
to Amin's excellent direction, a brilliant screenplay and well defined
characters.
The
movie grips you by surprise as you start vying for the girls when
seeing them going through various emotional challenges and upheavals
in order to achieve their goal.
Once
again, Shah Rukh Khan wins you over with another award winning performance.
He
uses his eyes and facial expressions to convey his innermost emotions
of frustration, anger, vulnerability and most of all hopefulness
for his team.
The
girls get ample footage to exhibit their individual natures and
personality clashes during the training sessions which are gradually
resolved into a combined team spirit as they enter the final phase
of the hockey tournament.
On
the whole Chakde! India is a touching film which brings out the
patriotic feeling about one's homeland. A must-see!
