Namastey London a winner at the box office

After a poor box office start to the year with none of the Hindi films making any significant impact, Bollywood can finally rest easy with the release of Namastey London.

Akshay Kumar the lead star of the box office hit Namastey London.

Directed by Vipul Amrutlala Shah of the Ankhen and Waqt- Race Against Time fame, Namastey London opened to lukewarm response on Friday 23 March.

Bollywood fans decided to stay away from the silver screen but instead opted to watch the crucial India versus Sri Lanka cricket match on the small screen.

Due to word of mouth, the film gathered speed at the UK box office on Saturday and Sunday with an amazing total of £221,349 across 38 UK cinemas.

No doubt the film will continue to fare well in days to come thanks to a realistic story of second generation British Asians living in the UK.

So, it looks like Namastey London is a winner with the UK audience.
