They say school days are the best time of your life but as children, we never appreciate this fact until we reach adulthood.

We always dream of going back to the carefree life of the academic institution once we have tasted life's various experiences.

And that's exactly what happens to Major Ram Prasad Sharma (Shah Rukh Khan).

Ram is the son of the late Brigadier Shekhar Sharma (Naseeruddin Shah) who has always been patriotic.

Ram is assigned the task of managing Mission Milap, which will bridge the political gap between India and Pakistan.

So he goes undercover and decides to operate his mission from a school. Only the headmaster is aware of his real identity.

Susmita Sen

On the school campus, Ram comes across Laxman (Zayed Khan) whom he takes an instant liking to.

Then there is the mischievous Sanjana (Amrita Rao) who loves Laxman, but until now has kept this a closely guarded secret.

Another character in this romantic comedy is Chandni (Sushmita Sen), the chemistry teacher with whom Ram eventually falls in love.

Then we have seedy young Professor Raghavan (Suniel Shetty), the physics teacher. But he is not what others think he is.

Raghavan acts as a negative barrier in Ram's quest. So to achieve his goal and secret of Mission Milap, he woos Major Amarjit Bakshi's teenage daughter, Sanjana (Amrita Rao).

Last but not least, we have Madhu Sharma (Kiron Kher) who is Lucky's mother.

Shah Rukh Khan

For some odd reason, Ram feels he knows her. So who is this woman and how is she related to him?

Will Raghavan's sinister plans work out or hinder Ram's plans?

For answers to these questions and more, see Main Hoon Na (meaning I am there for you) which is releasing in the UK cinemas this April 2004.

Previewed by Manish Gajjar, BBC Shropshire's Mr Bollywood.
