Vishal (Ajay Devgan) is a young stock analyst working in the city.

Searching for a place to stay, he finds his dream home on the 12th floor of an apartment building.

He is warned by the estate agent that the earlier occupant met her death from the balcony. But this does not deter Vishal.

Without divulging this fact to anyone, he shifts into the house with his wife, Swati.

But as destiny has it, the ghost of Manjeet and his son Akshit begin to haunt Swati.

So her behaviour becomes abnormal which cannot be explained or cured by doctors and psychologists.

Believing to be a psychological problem, Vishal unravels into the unexplainable. He becomes helpless.

Containing some very scary scenes, this film is definitely not for the weak hearted.

The appearance of the ghost onto the scene coupled with Dwarak Warrier’s background score will certainly scare the wits out of you. More so when it comes face to face with Swati – so don’t say I haven’t warned you!

Director Ram Gopal Verma has done his homework with this flick.

He has involved all the actors in the narrative. For example the introduction of Nana Patekar who comes onto the scene just before the intermission, to investigate the murder in the building.

The first half does raise expectations for a gripping climax and this does happen!

Ajay Devgan as the helpless husband and Urmila Matondkar as the possessed woman are the real stars of this film. Both give a flawless performance.

But most of all, full credit goes to director Ram Gopal Verma.

Bhoot is certainly one of the scariest films to be released from Bollywood.

Very similar to The Exorcist, it affects your mind in a psychological way. A terrifying piece of celluloid, scaring the living daylights out of you.

Save this one for Halloween nights.
