'Awaara Pagaal Deewana' (meaning 'Truly Madly Yours') is inspired by the Hollywood flick, 'The Whole Nine Yards'. But this Bollywood version, is lavishly made with eye catching special effects executed by the Hollywood crew.

This action-packed cat-and-mouse adventure begins when a mafia don dies, leaving diamonds worth millions to three beneficiaries.

But ... to get their inheritance all three must be present at the same time in order to claim their share. Should any of them die, the others share the estate so long as they can produce a death certificate.

Involved in this escapade are the don's son Vikrant (Rahul Dev); his daughter Preeti (Preeti Jhangiani); and son-in-law Gulab (Akshay Kumar).

Gulab is forced to flee India after he is framed by Vikrant for a crime he did not commit. He settles in New York and strikes up a friendship with a timid Dr Anmol and wife Mona, unaware that they are bounty hunters.

Vikrant offers a reward to learn Gulab's whereabouts. This prompts Mona to send Anmol and her father Mannilal to meet Vikrant in India to reveal Gulab's hideaway and collect the cash.

But the bounty hunters are confronted by Vikram's henchmen - Yeda (Sunil Shetty) and Chhota (Johnny Lever).

All of them end up back in New York, leading to a series of chases which will have the audience gasping for breath as director Vikram Bhatt takes them through a series of 'Matrix' style sequences.

Technically this film is extremely stylish, especially the cinematography which matches its Hollywood counterparts to a tee. This includes the car stunts in the climax and the fight scenes which have been done in'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' style.

Anu Malik's music is superb and blends easily with the narration on the screen. Watch out for 'Feenak Ya Habibi Feenak' and 'Ek Haseena Ek Deewana' which are striking.

The performances by all the leading stars are excellent and as usual Paresh Rawal takes the trophy for providing the laughs.

On the whole, 'Awaara Pagaal Deewana' is truly madly a great entertainer. It definitely won't disappoint if one is after pure gloss, sheer escapism and excellent visuals Hollywood style.
