Amongst
a few of the characters that Michael shares a pint with, is
language fan Angus Duncan and Billy Churms, who's a bit of an
expert on the Dawley dialect.
Billy's worked in Dawley most of his life, firstly as a miner
at the Kemberton pit and then at The Eveready factory... Both
now closed.
Meanwhile, Ken Thomas, has been involved with amateur boxing
in Dawley for many years. In fact, for Ken, boxing is in the
blood. |

|
| Staying
in the pub, Michael meets Pat and John. Pat's a Dawley girl,
born and bred who knows what it's like to look after your family
first. Michael learns that every ring holds a story and even
gets a bit of a song. |

Michael

towards their large neighbour, Telford town centre.
Life, work and unemployment in Dawley. Mining and the Eveready
factory.
Michael bumps into Kathleen again, along with her friends Jenny
and Tracy. He finds out that Dawley is a friendly place and
market day's the day to be in town.
He meets Pete, who came to Dawley as part of the Birmingham
overspill. |

Rita
introduces Michael to a few people at the local diner.
He bumps in to Len a local taxi driver, recovering from a heart
attack at the tender age of 34... chats to Elsie, originally
from Ironbridge about nursing and a few years on the buses.
Vic and Margaret talk about bringing up children... holidays
in Rhyl... and the secret to a great relationship. |

First
stop the Christian centre, where a group of dedicated volunteers
know how to make a mean cup of tea and a bacon butty. Michael
meets Nancy and Pam, Dawley born and bred.
Margret chats about marrying into Dawley, while Linda talk about
bringing up kids in the town.
On to the card shop - Susan chats about a few of the more bizarre
greeting cards on the market... dealing with change... and Christmas
on the Horseshoe Pass in North Wales. |
