Kayaking for Cancer banner
Round Ireland with a Kayak
Time and tide wait for no man
Evening, Friday 30th July
Don't get your feet wet Derry!

Simon's made it to Northern Ireland and Portrush.

One more week and simon expects to arrive back in Dublin.

That would make his journey six and a half weeks - if his prediction's correct.

BBC Radio Shropshire's Chris Ashley chats to Simon about his week.

After Kevin's expert tutelage, Derry the dog is starting to get used to water... although given half a chance, she prefers to keep her feet dry and has taken a liking to walking along the top of Simon's kayak.

The last four days have brought beautiful weather, a chance to chat to a few more people about the adventure, and raise a bit of money.

Simon's officially in Northern Ireland and hopes to make lighter work of the journey ahead now that he's less exposed to the Atlantic's swells.

Simon's also hoping to make the most of the tides. For around six hours at a time, the tide is flowing with hime and allowing him to make some real distance.

More good news is that his shoulder's bearing up ok. The shorter paddle is doing the business and taking some of the strain off his body.

After the cyclists were forced to strike out on their won last week, we've received news that they've not only reached Dublin, but have crossed the Irish Sea and are on their way back to Aberystwyth... All the best and well done to Steve and Phil.
