Ram Navami - The birth of Lord Rama

6th April 2006 sees the anniversary of the birth of the Hindu God, Lord Rama.

It's an auspicious occasion of religious significance to Hindus and Jains everywhere.

Ram Navami - A holy day for Hindus

Ram Navami is the Hindu festival which celebrates the birth of Lord Rama or Ramchandra on the 9th day of the Hindu month of Chaitra.

According to the English calendar, this auspicious day falls on April 6th in 2006.

In South India, Ram Navami is celebrated for nine days with great prayers, devotion and gaiety.

Stage artists narrate the thrilling and exciting episodes from the holy book, Ramayana.

The musicians chant the holy name of Rama and celebrate the wedding of Rama with Sita on this great day.

It is a colourful ceremony which is highly inspirational and spiritual.
