Sometimes
kayaking can be a bit of a drag...

When
the surf's like this, it's time to think of something else
to do for the day

Setting
off from the Isle of Whithorn just as the town's Jubilee celebrations
get under way, Simon makes good progress, despite a strong headwind,
and pauses for lunch at Port William.
Under way again in the afternoon, he makes his way up Luce Bay and begins his
journey south towards the Mull of Galloway. But high winds stall his progress,
and in the end he has to get out of his kayak and walk the remaining couple of
miles to his campsite, dragging the 40lb kayak behind him. The effort takes its
toll on Tuesday, when Simon enters the water only to find high winds again stopping
him from making any headway.
To make things even worse, his efforts of the previous day have
taken their toll, and he has to stop after only a couple of miles
and rest for the remainder of the day.
