The
project is being led by ecological artist David Haley, who has been
commissioned to create a special exhibition entitled River Life
3000: A Dialogue for the Beginning of Time.
All you
have to do is jot down your ideas on the form below and and we'll
send them in.
You can also take any supporting items, along to the museum such as
photos, stories, press cuttings, and poems.
The project,
called 'Wish you were here,' offers people the opportunity to contribute
their personal reminiscences of the river and the floods in a popular
form - the postcard.
David Haley said, "A vital component of the project is the creation
of a 'River Life archive' based on people's stories, memories, pictures,
poems, visions and hopes for the future of the river, of which, the
postcards from the 'Wish you were here' project will form a vital
part."
While he is interested in all aspects of the river, there will be
a particular opportunity (and emphasis) on exploring how families
prepare for and creatively cope with the floods.
Adrian Plant of Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, said, "Flooding
has, in the past two to three years in particular, had a dramatic
impact on the town and the lives of the many families who live within
flood zones."
"David's project for us looks at the effects of climate change
on the future of the River Severn and the impact that this will have
on flood levels." |
