Teen Patti

A high tension drama based on gambling to prove a mathematical theory.

Director: Leena Yadav Bajaj
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, R Madhavan, Raima Sen, Mahesh Manjrekar, Irrfan Khan, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff

Perci Trachtenberg (Ben Kingsley) is the world’s greatest mathematician. He is keen to meet the reclusive Indian maths professor Venkat Subramaniam (Amitabh Bachchan) for a reason.

Venkat has recently invented a theory that could redefine the very principles of probability and randomness. Perci is convinced that Venkat's discovery has the originality and significance to change mathematics.

Already aware that he is on the brink of an extraordinary discovery, Venkat is encouraged to test his theory in the real world.

So Venkat allows five of his brightest students to be trained in high stake gambling with the aim of proving his theory of probability.

Perci is also aware that Venkat’s new theory could have far reaching implications and it could be dangerous if it gets into the wrong hands.

But what starts out as a mere experiment between the two professors, turns into a game neither can control in this high tension drama.

Already showcased at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Teen Patti’s crisp editing goes to Jon Harris who worked on Guy Ritchie’s film, Snatch.

The film also stars Pierce Brosnan in a cameo role at the beginning of the movie whilst Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley makes a welcome return to Bollywood after his role in Gandhi, a decade ago.
