Sarkar Raj unveiled at Cannes

Eros International revealed the trailer for their forthcoming film Sarkar Raj at the Cannes Film Festival.

Sarkar Raj, which is said to be a sequel to Sarkar, stars the highly regarded Bachchan family trio: Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya. They come together on screen for the very first time in this film directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

While Sarkar focused on the powerful family of Nagres in Mumbai's political underworld, Sarkar Raj continues the storyline beginning with the inheritance of power from the father (Amitabh Bachchan) to the son (Abhishek Bachchan).

Talking about the film, director Ram Gopal Varma said: "I employed each and every aspect of the various techniques of the film medium whether it is the music, dialogue or cinematography for one and only one purpose – that is to capture the intensity in the actors' eyes, through which we see a world of high drama of politics, treachery, revenge, passion, courage, love and above all relationships.

"The film may belong to me, but the power belongs to the Bachchans."

President of Distribution for Eros International Pranab Kapadia commented: "Sarkar Raj has the potential to become a cult film just as Sarkar has. Story, direction, powerful cast and performances all come together to make it a film that everyone who loves Indian cinema would enjoy and remember."

Sarkar Raj sees a nationwide release on Friday 6 June, with previews on Thursday 5 June 2008 in UK cinemas.
