The best way to start your Sunday is with Mike George on BBC Radio Shropshire. Over your breakfast Mike will make you smile, he'll introduce you to some fascinating people, and give you plenty to think about.
Mike George has everything you need to make the perfect start to your Sunday. Mike is with you on BBC Radio Shropshire from 6-9am.
He gets to the bottom of what you believe in, he makes you smile, talks to some fascinating people and plays some great music.
Father Laurence Freeman, a Benedictine monk, made a big impression on Mike. Fr Laurence meditates four times a day. On the Sunday Breakfast show he gave Mike an insight into Christian meditation and since then Mike's been having a go himself!
Mike came into broadcasting in the early eighties after ten years in the Royal Navy and eight as a medical representative for a pharmaceutical company.
He says he was, "one of a group of well paid individuals who drive around in Mondeos telling doctors of the latest breakthrough their companies have in various treatments for various illnesses."
Mostly broadcasting in the West Midlands and South Wales he's done just about every type of programme there is.
For 15 of the 25 years Mike's presented breakfast shows.
Mike George in evening dress
In the finest tradition of BBC broadcasting, Mr George can be found behind the microphone wearing evening dress.
Mike is married to Lin. They have four children and three grandchildren, an old dog called Harper, three cats, Willow, Merlin and Morgan, and a couple of chickens called Emily and Abigail... apparently you can't eat anything you've named.
Mike loves his garden but not gardening, poetry (but only if it rhymes) and Australian wines.
In the best tradition of media biographies, Mike would like you to know that his star sign is Taurus... May the fourth be with you...
