BBC Radio Shropshire's Eric Smith chaired Shrewsbury Question Time on Monday 20 March at the Shrewsbury Music Hall. The event was first broadcast on BBC Radio Shropshire on Tuesday 21 March. You can now listen again to the 2006 event by clicking on the link below.
Presented in a similar format to its famous BBC One counterpart, the event allowed people living in the Shrewsbury & Atcham borough to pose their questions to a panel of councillors. Panellists included councillors Peter Nutting (Conservative), Danny Moore (Labour), Anne Chebsey (Liberal Democrats) and Claire Wild (Independent). Some of the key topics included the future of Shrewsbury's quarry swimming pool, crime, the environment, value for money from council tax, affordable housing, and the possibility of a Shropshire unitary authority. The audience also voted on many of these issues using electronic keypads. Similar events will be taking place throughout the county over the coming year. |
