BBC IN SERBIAN

The times and new summer frequencies of our programes can be found on Schedule and Frequencies pages.

The BBC began broadcasting in Serbo-Croatian in September 1939. Fifty years later, in September 1990 growing political tensions between the states making up the Yugoslav Federation lead to the formation of separate Serbian and Croatian Services.

Besides the main forty-five-minute transmission in the late afternoon, BBC World Service broadcasts three separate fifteen-minute transmissions in Serbian daily - at dawn, noon and in the late evening. The BBC Serbian output concentrates on news and current affairs. Every day we report on and analyse events in Yugoslavia and the world.

The Serbian Service is part of the BBC World Service based at Bush House, London.

In 1999 the Serbian Service celebrates its 60th anniversary.
