The Lost World of Leslie Edwards

Winnie Gilbert

Winnie Gilbert with her future husband Bill

Seventy years have passed since these films were shot - and their discovery has provided us with a valuable glimpse into a deaf world of the 1930s that is now long gone. But after a brief search, See Hear managed to find someone who could connect with Leslie Edwards' lost world - 92 year old Winnie Gilbert of Leicester.

Winnie Gilbert today - still wearing the same beret!

Winnie knew Leslie Edwards while she was growing up and regarded him as her 'second father'. She has never seen the films, so she was shocked to see herself at a cricket match with her future husband, Bill in 1935. Amazingly, she still wears the same beret today!
