DIANA MARTIN wwas born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1978. Her father is Spanish and her mother is from Belfast. She was educated in Spain, Northern Ireland and at Mary Hare Grammar School. After studying for an Art Foundation course in Derby, Diana took a degree in photography at Wolverhampton University. She has played the part of Claire since the pilot was first broadcast in 2001. In 2003, Diana took a starring role in Sam Dore's film Tricks. In the early part of 2004 she earned rave reviews in the role of Sarah in the Salisbury Playhouse production of Children of a Lesser God, and followed that up with cameos in Doctors (BBC) and The Commander II (ITV). Last year, Diana played Heather in the drama BBC drama Soundproof. This year as well as reprising her role as Claire, Diana took the lead role in the touring version of Deafinitely Theatre's Dysfunction.

1  Describe yourself in five words.
Organised; caring; sensitive, fashionable and determined.

2  When was your first kiss?
It was when I was 15. It was terrible - really sloppy!

3  What's your most annoying habit?
Not sure it's a habit, but I'm a real perfectionist and sometimes I feel a bit sorry for the people who live with me. I must drive them mad!

4  What's your big ambition for the future?
To be a well-known and successful actress and prove that Deaf people can do it just as well as hearing people. It may not happen to me, but I'd love to see Deaf people winning acting awards and making us all proud.

5  Which person do you most admire - and why?
My mother, because she's always supported me through thick and thin and been there for me.

6  Who is your ideal man?
Brad Pitt. He's absolutely gorgeous and so fashionable! I think the scar on his face is so sexy! Yum!

7  What's your favourite TV programme?
Friends. It always cheers me up, even when I'm feeling a bit down.

8  What one item would you take to a desert island?
A sleeping bag to protect me from the creepy crawlies.

9  What was your most embarrassing moment?
Passing out just before midnight on Millennium Eve. So uncool!

10  What's your greatest extravagance?
It has to be clothes. I'm a bit of a fashion junkie. I just can't resist spending!
