A few years ago, a little-known Dundee company developed a popular console game called Grand Theft Auto, which involved stealing cars and running people over.
The popularity of the game mushroomed and earned DMA Design a small fortune.
The game has now spawned several sequels, the most recent of which was launched today - and a significant amount of negative attention in the media over claims that it influences violence in real life.
What are your thoughts on this? Does GTA make people rush out into the street and steal cars?
Comments:
No more than Tomb Raider makes people steal relics or Dance Dance Revolution increases the likelihood of the return of discos with lighted floors.

WEll, I've played all of the Grand Theft Auto Games and can say that I've never wanted to steal a car and murder the occupant. The idea makes me feal physically sick. A game is ok when nobody can get hurt, it allows me to vent my frustrations in a harmless way. I think those who do commit crimes apparently based on the GTA series of games are far more easily influenced in life and probably have come from a less than perfect background. Maybe the media should look into the home life of the families and their environment rather than blaming the easiest option, the successful company

gta is just a game no child should play but i've seen parents buy their children the game and there are not even 10 just to shut them up.as for crime people must be real silly to think that a game can brainwash them.
