Whiteside has been arrested for Eddie's murder! Jodie was an undercover detective who set a trap for him and he fell for it! Things got a bit nasty just before Harry and his colleagues swooped, but the dodgy DCI is now on the other side of the bars.

Biography

Slimy DCI Whiteside stepped into Eddie Hunter's job, and investigated his murder. He's a nasty piece of work, who's treated Scott and Tina with very little regard over Eddie's death, and is clearly homophobic and misogynistic. Whiteside is like a dog with a bone, and won't rest until every case he handles is solved… but Whiteside has been seen hanging out in warehouses with none other than Lenny Murdoch!

He's done his best to antagonise Harry, who's become very suspicious of his new boss. When Lenny's actions were under an internal police investigation, Whiteside provided him with an alibi, falsely clearing him of killing Eddie. There's a power battle between the two - they both have a lot to lose if the truth comes out.

DCI Whiteside was never convinced that Archie committed suicide, but didn't believe Liz's confession of murder either! The appearance of 'Douglas' has done little to tone down his suspicions and he's determined to prove his amnesia is fake.

He's never been popular with the Hunters but he's strangely started to bond with Paul.
