Biography

Malcolm lives alone after the death of his wife, Rose, but enjoys the company of his beloved pigeons at the doo loft. He adores his children, Gina and Eileen, and his grandchildren, Joanne, Ruth and Brian. He was devastated by grandaughter Kirsty's death.

He had a wee romance with Della's mum, Shirley, but lost out to George Henderson. He remains friends with Shirley though. His family's behaviour continues to baffle him. He couldn't understand why Ruth wanted custody of Franco, did not approve of Eileen's relationship with Callum, and was frankly horrified when he learned about Eileen and Archie.

Concerned about Ruth and her mysterious husband, he made sure Marty knew all about Ruth's problems when he arrived in Shieldinch. But Malcolm always wants what's best for his family, and was a tower of strength for Gina when she was having last minute doubts on her wedding day.

A fire Paul started in Malcolm's doocot left him unconscious but he's thankfully safe and sound!

Malcolm was the only one to pay attention to Nicki's warnings about Robert and he was even threatened by the man himself. It felt like ages before the penny really dropped but it was only when Malcolm and Billy shared their suspicions that they managed to stop Robert in his tracks. The two broke into Shirley's to find her and Nicki taken hostage. After a violent struggle Robert ran away.

It's clear Malcolm doesn't shock easily. He now knows that Liz and Gina were involved in Archie's 'death' but he's supporting them and has offered them a home since their home was repossessed.
