Gina and 'Douglas' have renewed their wedding vows but Gina is entirely unaware that Douglas got his memory back and is well and truly Archie again. Confused? Don't worry! Archie's a nasty piece of work and is manipulating everyone in his path. Gina's sister Eileen can see what he's up to but Gina refuses to listen.

Biography

Gina Rossi is the vivacious, energetic owner of the Oyster Cafe, sister of Eileen and mother to Ruth from her first marriage and Jo from her marriage to late, Italian husband, Franco. Gina's endearing manner means friends often rely on her as a shoulder to cry on, it's a role she relishes.

Gina became a grandmother for the first time after the birth of Jo's son, Franco. After some close encounters with Lewis Cope and an internet date, she met Dr Marcus McKenzie. He seemed perfect, but he was keen to take things further than she was, and he raped her. Gina eventually stood up to Marcus but wasn't prepared for outcome of her actions: Heather, Marcus' girlfriend confronted him about the allegations and ended up killing the devious doctor in self-defence.

Gina's life didn't get any easier after that. After being granted immunity by the police, Jo confessed to Marcus's murder during Heather's trial. Ruth became jealous of the attention Jo was receiving and launched a bid for custody of Franco. A fight saw Ruth push Gina down the stairs, and Gina end up in a coma. However, she recovered, and the tragedy seems to have brought the family together again, which is all Gina wants.

Gina then met up with an old friend from school, Archie Buchanan, who happened to be Eileen's boss. Archie was keen on Gina but she was a wee bit reluctant to get involved. She didn't know that Eileen was having an affair with Archie and would seemingly do anything to stop Gina and Archie getting together. However, Gina took the plunge and got together with Archie, only to find out later about Eileen's deceit. She decided to spend some time with Franco's family in Italy. She came back a changed woman, after discovering Franco's son, Luca, who came to live in Shieldinch. Luca ended up breaking Gina's heart when he left with no explanation. The reason he left was that he was not actually Franco's son and both Archie and Jo (who he had been having an affair with) knew the truth, so he had no choice but to go.

Gina married Archie, although she did have doubts about going through with the wedding. She battled with his fiery mum, Liz, to begin with although the two women have realised that they have more in common than they initially thought and are happily bonding. Archie tended to always get his own way, and Gina has put up with it until now. She was devastated by the truth about Jo and Luca, and feels like everything she believed of Franco has been threatened. The fact that Archie knew all about it made her mad and was determined not to let him away with this easily.

Since then, she's really been through the mill! Archie was arrested for embezzlement and it took a long time for Gina to realise her husband was a bad 'un. He convinced Gina to put up his bail money so she had to remortgage the Oyster to raise £50,000. While Liz remained cynical of her son's behaviour, Gina was won over time and time again by Archie's conniving ways. It wasn't until Gina and Liz interrupted him trying to skip bail and fake suicide that they realised the true extent of his evil side. They found out he was running away with Niamh, who he'd been involved with years ago and had got back together with, and all hell broke loose. He tried to strangle Gina but Liz stopped him in his tracks by hitting him over the head!

Faced with a dead body, the pair panicked and Gina decided there was only one thing to do - get rid of him. They got Eileen involved and they threw him over a cliff. They've been living with the guilt ever since. Most people believe he committed suicide but some think he's faked it all. Gina didn't know that Archie was alive when he hit the ground...

Since then, Gina discovered Archie had mortgaged their home and hadn't made a single repayment. Gina and Liz found themselves penniless and have had to move in with Malcolm.

They got the shock of their lives when Scarlett discovered Douglas, working in a hotel. Looking and sounding just like Archie, he insists he has no memory of his past. Gina is pretty confused by the situation but has taken him in, and is pleased by Douglas's kindness - something Archie was always lacking.
