Lascelles Bank have sent Stella Moon to take over the
daily management of Glenbogle, as the estate is in a state of financial
insecurity. Archie soon discovers that the brusque Stella is no pushover.
Katrina and Archie reluctantly decide to split up, as she has been offered
a career-defining job in London. The death of the local golf club chairman
leads to Hector and Kilwillie competing for the title. Molly supports Kilwillie,
due to Hector's old-fashioned views about lady members. Kilwillie is elected,
but Molly blackmails him over his underhand electoral practices, and forces
him to give in to her radical demands for the lady members. |

Stella's investigation of Glenbogle's excessive household
costs leads her to impose a strict budget on the residents. She forces Archie
into laying off Golly, Duncan and Lexie until the estate is reopened to
the public. Even Hector's beloved dogs are sent to Kilwillie's. The staff
decide to picket the estate and Lexie even gets a job at Kilwillie Castle.
Hector and Molly are faring no better as they are now forced to share a
room, and come to blows over their opposing hobbies. Meanwhile, Archie has
decided to support his friends and joins the strike. Archie sets up a workers'
co-operative and persuades Stella to rehire all the staff through their
newly formed company. Things eventually start to return to normal and Stella
evens shows a human side when she negotiates the return of Hector's dogs.

Archie organises a fishing weekend for some paying guests,
but Golly is worried about the dwindling amounts of fish in the river. Stella
is suspicious of Golly's assessment, and she spitefully puts a ban on anyone
fishing the river who doesn't pay. When she sees Golly handing over two
salmon to someone in the village she accuses him of poaching and has him
arrested. As an act of solidarity, Hector and Kilwillie go fishing and they
too are arrested. Archie tries to teach Duncan how to be a ghillie for the
fishing event, but has limited success. Molly defends "The Glenbogle Three"
in court and, with Duncan as a surprise witness, uncovers the truth. Archie's
weekend goes ahead as planned when the 'not guilty' verdict comes through.
Golly rewards Duncan for his loyalty and hard work by letting him be the
ghillie for the event. To Hector's complete horror, Archie invites the now
homeless Stella to come and live with them at the house. |

Stuart McIntosh, a building supplier with big ideas, arrives to repair the
bridge and sets his cap at Lexie. Smooth operator Stuart tries to buy some
of the deserted cottages on the estate.Archie strikes a deal with Stuart,
but pulls out when he realises that Stuart has been lying to him about how
much the cottages are worth. A cash-strapped Hector, ignorant of the sneaky
plan, does a deal with Stuart for the cottages. Things come to a head when
Archie and Stella discover that some of their cottages are missing. Hector
is rumbled as soon as the missing cottages are discovered, and Stella and
Archie demand the money back. |

The bridge has been repaired and it is time to reopen
the estate to the public, so Archie has invited all the local dignitaries
to the opening ceremony. Stuart McIntosh, meanwhile, has come up with a
proposal to buy the mountain, Ben Bogle, and build "Boglecroft" there, a
holiday village of log cabins. Archie tries his best to scupper the plans
but encounters stiff opposition as he discovers the council are in favour
of Stuart's plans. Meanwhile, Molly enlists Duncan's help when she discovers
that the spot where Stuart intends to build Boglecroft is actually an historic
site. The opening day arrives and it is looking like time has run out for
the MacDonalds. Stuart has even hijacked Archie's ceremony and taken the
dignitaries off to the proposed building site to declare it officially open.
The day is saved when Duncan made a grand entrance, via a secret passageway,
with Hector and various McIntosh artefacts that prove the battle site was
genuine. The concept of Boglecroft is thrown out, as is Stuart when Lexie
finds out that he made a pass at Stella. |
