Railstorm
Last week, George Square in Glasgow swapped the pigeons for snow and rails as the Red Bull Railstorm came to town:

Ahh, how convenient; a large snowboard event five minutes walk from my flat. Red Bull seem to like putting on strange events, and this was definitely one of those. The course consisted of two curved ledges, straight ledges and a kinker, with steps down the middle for added realism (and carnage).

MCing the whole event were two dashing young chaps who most people seemed to hate, but they didn't really bother me. There was also a huge screen to show all the action close-up.

I generally thought that the whole event was a good laugh. It's nice for something like snowboarding to be brought into the very centre of the city and it was a welcome change for a Saturday night.
I did, however, think that just making it a rail-based event was
a bit on the crap side. I appreciate that they could only use a small area, but seeing a group of people going down the same four or five rails for three hours can only be so interesting. Mind you, I suppose it might have opened the eyes of a lot of people to what snowboarders are doing nowadays.

Some of the stuntin' that went down was really good. 360 gap over the kinker to 180 off etc. Mwoy mwoy tech. Some of the slams were belters too - one of the lads hooked up on the beginning of the kinker just as he was trying to gap it, resulting in him being the first and only rider to pull a gap to nose-dive, to slide down the rail on his belly. It was ace.
