Magura HS33's:
The fantastic stopping power of hydraulic brakes has meant that
hoards of riders are now loyal converts. However, whilst most regular
mountain bikers use disc brakes, trials riders generally opt for
rim brakes. This is because they engage much quicker and allow for
more precise modulation, which is essential in trials when a rider
may need pin-point precision.
The Magura HS33's are probably the best of these hydraulic rim brakes
and thats why nearly all trials riders use them. Their braking
power is amazing and the power that comes off these is enough to
make your seat stays flex (which is why most sets of Magura's come
with brake boosters to stop this).
Unfortunately, while the brakes are super-strong, the pads aren't
very good, which is why Magura brought out Kool Stop pads. These
are made of a softer compound of rubber which will stick to your
rim more but wear down faster.
Magura's are a must-have for any serious trials rider as they are,
in my opinon, the best brakes you will ever get.
