DMR V8 Pedals
Over the years, the DMR V8 has become the best selling mountainbike
pedal in the UK, and for good reason.
They are based around the classic Shimano DX design, cost about
£20 and even have the same body as their big brother, the
V12 (which are more expensive because they have sealed bearings).
If you like fiddling with your bike, the V8 also comes with a nifty
little grease port. Simply unscrew the wee grub screw and, using
the grease syringe provided, fill it up with fresh grease. I find
that the syringe is too small and re-filling it's a swine, but it's
still a nice feature.
The pedal is super-grippy, with ten pins on each
side, which I find is fine, but you can always lower them/remove
them if you think it's too much.
To be honest, I really don't like DMR stuff - I snapped a set of
their Chieftain cranks jumping down two stairs (Fergus has snapped
two pairs) and Cookson's broken about five of their frames. With
that said, though, these pedals really are good and definitely warrant
consideration.
They have a proven design, they're fairly cheap, they're not too
heavy, and they come in a ton of colours.
