Boxxer Forks:
Being asked what works and what is reliable is hard. What works
for one rider might not for another so I'm gonna start with a safe
bet: Rockshox Boxxers.
Boxxers have been around for ages now and this year they come in
a few guises. One thing that hasn't changed however, is their reliability.
Solid performance and ease of maintenance make them a favourite
amongst racers and riders alike. I've used most top end forks extensively
and for me it's between Boxxers and the Marzocchi Shivers. Two years
ago Bikehut had us on Shivers, last year Boxxers and I kept the
Boxxers over the Shivers for a few reasons: mainly the weight factor,
as they are over a pound lighter then the Shivers. They are also
stiffer than the Shivers as they have a brace over the wheel which
inverted forks cannot have due to their design.
Rockshox forks can be expensive to buy and parts aint cheap,
but if you look after them, they'll look after you. I've seen guys
on Boxxers just roll away from stuff that would demolish lesser
forks.
