Tried and Tested: Suzue, 36 hole, sealed front hub
Suzue sealed front hubs

For 'normal' (not cassette) hubs I would rate Suzue as the best (apart from Chris King or something ridiculously expensive). That's why Standard based their axles on them.

A lot of components nowadays are generic catalogue far east rubbish with names printed on them. I don't think Suzue make anyone else's hubs at present but they used to make hubs for Peregrine which everyone used. Suzue is also Japanese which usually means quality, (i.e. Shimano). The Suzue hub is also definitely better than a Profile front hub as it's such a simple, quality design.

At the end of the day it's just a hub, but I like my bike to run well and be easy to maintain, so it matters to me.

Grant.
