DSAB Colin's Bike Check:
Frame: I am currently riding on a
Mosh Worm I believe. Its a pretty old flatland frame with
a crazy curved downtube. I got this frame from Fergus
as it had been sitting in his shed for a few years gathering dust
and I got it at the cost of zero quid (which was a bonus). I reckon
I'm gonna change it soon for a lighter one. I've avoided the whole
light bikes thing for a while now but I feel my riding would improve
with a slightly lighter frame.
Stem: I use a Huffy stem that was
on my last complete bike. I run it upside down and dont
see any need to go and get some fancy expensive one thats
meant to be really great or anything because I personally can't
see how stems can be so much better or different from other ones
(except that new fancy one going about, but thats just being
picky)
Bars: I use 4-piece Primo Moe's Bars. I absolutely
love them and have used them for a good while now. I would ideally
like about another 1.5 cm on each end cause I feel I have them cut
just a tad too short for my liking. I also ride them forward a wee
bit like a vert rider, god damn I am hardcore.
Grips: Terrid said it, best grips ever. ODI Longnecks
Forks: Ruben MacNeil forks. They are light and tough, I highly
recommend these.
Front tyre: I am currently running a Shadow Conspiracy Undertone
and I like it a lot - could be a keeper
Rear tyre: I'm riding a green Primo Wall
tyre but its getting baldy and holey, so I think I'll get another
Shadow Conspiracy Undertone for the back as it has been good to
my front.
Front wheel: 48 spoke, Alex rim, Seventies hub (I think),
sealed bearings, 10mm axle, orange. Cost me ten quid from Brett,
'coz a 10mm axle was no use to him.
Rear wheel: Primo Hula Hoop rim, Primo Son of a Bomb hub,
48 spoke, Shimano 16t freewheel, sealed bearings, 14mm axle. New
Odyssey Hazard Lite rim coming soon.
Cranks: black Profile cranks 175mm. Brilliant cranks. They
have no stupid pinch bolts and are a nice weight and look good too.
Will last many more sessions to come.
Sprocket: BSD sprocket. Dunno how many teeth, but they are
amazing. I used to go through lots of sprockets but this has lasted
ages. Definitely getting another when needed.
Pedals: Snafu
eh
black pedals. I snapped a pair
of these a while back and also a pair of Primo Tenderizers, but
I like the grip and design of these. Still havent found the
ideal pedal.
Chain: I have no idea but its hell of a thick, leading many
young Ned asking Haw big man! Is that a motorbike chain?.
I love it though, and couldnt go back to regular chains now
- I wouldnt trust them.
Seat clamp: Again, I dunno but it's big and chrome. Came
with the free Fergus frame.
Seat post: I SUCK AT BIKE CHECKS! Strangely enough I dont
know, but I reckon its Primo and it has been majorly cut down
and is now sprayed a crazy dark green colour.
Seat: Diamondback. I like the shape of this seat and it's
in a crazy army camouflage design - what more could I need?
Brakes: I run a customised front brake thingy.
It sits to the right on my forks and is pushed down to slow me down
gradually and then simply kicked back up to release it. It's no
use for nosepicks or anything but when riding street it saves a
whole lotta cash on worn out tyres and trainers. Brakes for the
brakeless rider!
Nae pegs.
Nae chance.
