Oran Mor Pipe Band

Founded in 1992, the Oran Mor Pipe has deep roots in the Capital Region of upstate New York. The band, led by P/M Andrew Douglas and L/D Eric MacNeill, boasts a roster of nearly 30 pipers and drummers and an entirely volunteer support staff. Band members individually teach students and other bands during the year, and the band travels throughout the summer to compete in numerous Scottish Games throughout the Northeastern United States. Every August, the band travels to Glasgow to compete in the World Pipe Band Championship, where they were awarded 4th place in Grade 2 last summer. In April, the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association upgraded Oran Mor to Grade 1 for the 2009 competition season.
