Netiquette

Netiquette is a set of guidelines for users of the world wide web regarding the language that they use online and how they behave towards other internet users.

Some of the commonly agreed guidelines are:

  • avoid using capital letters (is the equivalent to SHOUTING)
  • keep emails short and to the point
  • do not say anything insulting about other people as this could be saved and forwarded to them
  • do not use large attachments without giving the recipient warning, as this may fill up their mailbox and stop any further mail being delivered
