The exam lasts for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The paper consists of four sections based on the four analysis areas. Within each section there is a choice of two possible questions.
You must complete three questions. Each question must be from a different chosen area.
There will be one area from which you do not answer a question. For example, your school may not have covered Performance appreciation, therefore you would answer one question from each of the three other areas.
Each question is worth 20 marks and is made up of four parts (labelled a, b, c and d). Each part of the question will identify how many marks it is worth. This is usually between three and six marks.
At the end of the exam, after completing three questions, you will have a total exam mark out of 60. This will be added to your two best practical marks (out of 40) to give you an overall total out of 100.
To gain an award in Physical Education you must pass the National Assessment Banks (NABs) as well as the exam.
