The questions in the following sections have been separated into those appropriate for novels, short stories, plays and poems. The aim is for you to choose a question as if you were in exam conditions. Once you have selected the question, make brief notes showing how you would tackle the question:

• justifying the relevance of your text

• showing how you would answer the 'body' of the question

• illustrating what you will refer to in the text

• techniques and features you might use in your answer
