Looking to help join/start an RSPB group covering Western Isles?

Hi all
Recently found that no RSPB group exists on Western Isles and contacted Regional Office at Inverness who have said it would be nice if a local Group were formed. They said it would need a quorum of around 6 so any keen photographers or bird lovers/conservationists out there what to help?

PCC meeting last night

The PCC (Pairc Community Council) meeting was held last night (13th Nov)as a follow up to brief(total power cut) meeting held on 7th Nov. The major topics of discussion were Gravir Inter-Connector/Sub-Station and local school bus services.
I attended as a member of the Public and local resident. The meeting was lively and productive. A further special Meeting was called to discuss the Inter-Connector in detail as a Planning Application has been lodged and an Environmental Assessment has been finalised.
It may be obvious at this point that an Objection will be raised by individuals and Interest Groups (Local Council,RSPB,MWT,JMT) but I wonder how much of a profile this matter can obtain.....it needs Press/Radio/TV and local people to present a coherent reasoned objection to this massive building, involved impact on local Environment, resulting cabling and infra-structure even before 145m high Wind-Turbines are mentioned.

Sky Digital reception on Lewis

Just a general query......is reception of Sky a problem sometimes on Lewis? I have a generally good/stable signal but have noticed lots of blocking/loss of pic on some of the obscure channels (perhaps more bunched on transponder?) especially Setanta and others. Anyone decided or had to upgrade dish from standard size to bigger?
cheers in advance any useful comments

New to Lewis

Hi to all
Just moved (end Sept 08) from Somerset to Lewis (Gravir,South Lochs) and really pleased to be here....big time!
Attended my first local Council meeting at Pairc Community Council last night (fri 7/11) and made local acquaintances.
We all want renewables but maybe Wind Turbines are NOT the way to go? As Wave and Tide sources are becoming more viable and far less invasive maybe more Objection should be made against MASSIVE local (Gravir) Inter-Connector that will export resources to Mainland..........?
Ok...mini rant over
I am very keen Photographer (all subjects) and always looking for like-minded photo-buddies(male/female) to share trips/projects/pics etc.....amateur female models also sought for artistic/tasteful projects on TFP basis
Interests also include Esoterica,Gnosticism/RLC so please contact if like-minded
Hope to hear from you soon
Will be updating Blog as go along (bit of a Virgin Blogger so be gentle with me)
regards
Peace and Love
