Since there was only a late ferry..

Took some pictures of isles , as usual, over last few days. The first Sound-of- Harris ferry on tuesday morning cancelled and the second sailing was already cancelled due to tidal variations, meaning a wait in Leverburgh until the 1640 sailing. Decided to visit the St Clements Church at Rodel, something on my 'to do' list for a long time. Beautiful and very interesting building. Also visited the Rodel Hotel - a very pleasant surprise. I thought it was closed and it didnt look very special from outside, but it was a different story completely on the inside - like finding a pearl in an oyster shell that looks like a stone. There was beautiful paintings on the walls by local artists (the Fultons), very engaging views of the harbour out the window, and even the plates and tableware were nice - almost impossible to look anywhere without finding something to please the eye. Fortunately, the food was also yummy and the service good. So there was a silver lining to the towering clouds of snow.

the cold snowy week

From Genesis

Echoes of the Broadway Everglades
With her mythical Madonnas, still walking in their shades
Lenny Bruce declares a truce and plays his other hand
Marshall McLuhan, casual viewin', head buried in the sand.
Sirens on the rooftops wailing, but theres no ship sailing
Groucho, with his movies trailing, stands alone with his punchline failing.

A Few more

From Genesis 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway'
Caryl Chessman sniffs the air and leads the parade
he knows, in a scent, you can bottle all you made

There's Howard Hughes in Blue Suede Shoes,
smiling at the majorettes,
smoking Winston cigatettes.

And as the Song and Dance begins, the children play at home,
with needles...... needles and pins.

Cyclic motion 1

Sun rises,
fortunate early army are witness to silent glory.
For the others , an undeniable demand to forget the night
put muscle in motion,
click clack computers,
heads fill with notions.

Soon spin past the hours, evening countdown begins.
Sunset signal, red light in the life lane,
time to stop now,
Engines off, handbrakes on,
battery recharge from dusk till new dawn.

Circle large, circle small,
Cyclic motion turns them all
