I was on Lewis in the summmer of '98 and particularly enjoyed watching some folks weaving Harris tweed. What happened to the industry? Your comment has dismayed me. BTW, I am enjoying reading your blog very much. Thanks for taking the time to write all that you do.

Andy, I have written a summary of events in the Harris Tweed industry in an entry entitled "Gearrannan" in December. I cannot go into more detail, as it has not exactly given rise to mutually good feelings within the island. Home weaving as you may have seen it 8 years ago still goes on at Drinishader (South Harris) and in the Black House Museum at Gearrannan near Carloway.
