Back of Beyond - August 2006

Now that the long hot summer is at an end, those of us who missed it by living too far north and west can feel smug in the knowledge that we didn't need to waste money on the fripperies of the season, ie. summer clothes, suncream, flipflops and the like. After all, an agricultural show/ highland games/ fun day is just not the same if it's not taking place in a deluge and the face paint isn't running in rivulets down the kiddie's faces. We're here to suffer after all. But at least we're not sunburnt. Anyway it's all over and we've only got the dark nights and equinoctal gales to look forward to, so I thought I would post some pictures of summer in Lewis, with the aim of cheering everyone up and maybe even winning Scallowawife's competition. Ok, so some of them don't look so much like summer.....
