holiday on islay

obviously a sign of age, because i forgot to mention it earlier, but the long awaited (by me at least) cd release of the sheena swanson quartet recording at last year's black bottle islay jazz festival is actually here.

as i may have mentioned before, we're selling this cd at £10 each (plus p+p) to raise funds for the west of scotland adult cystic fibrosis unit. they're the only ones making any money out of this, thanks to generous sponsorship from black bottle and duffies of islay (transport). also to paul and mario for foregoing any income or royalties.

if you'd like a copy, drop me an e-mail at ssq@ileach.co.uk

Has anyone else noticed the pages for this site havn;t been updated for almost a month? The blogs seem get updated each day but the featured blogs remain the same. Its a pretty poor show.

apparently mike small who certainly promoted all this on islay, no longer works at the bbc. maybe that's part of the reason. and some of us were told that we were no longer being moderated and posts would appear nigh on immediately - but that's not happening either.

It was really slow recently, I posted a blog on wednesday last week and it didnt show up until about friday.

Don't worry Sunny and Co are busy knitting new pages for the site.

Need to get back to Islay for a holiday now that I'm old enough to be a lover of the Uisge Beatha. My friends get up every year to play at the Jazz Festival, lucky guys. Oh the days of hanging out on Portnahaven beach with the lads from California, swimming in crab pools, getting my Whisky tablet in Port Charlotte (anyone want to send me some? can't find it in Glasgow), cycling to Bowmore, hanging out at Curry Sands...aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

I might be going off topic here but it is after all about holiday on Islay. I know Brian already had a look at it but i have just returned from Islay and made an Islay travelogue with lots of pictures. For those interested: http://www.islayinfo.com/islay_travelogue_2006.html All the best Ron
