the lightlessness of being

after months and months of having something in common with the mainland that we didn't necessarily want to have, the traffic lights at the duich bridge have gone, the single track diversion road has been covered over (?) and we have a shiny new bridge over the river.

and the low road is straight once more:-)

"covered over (?)" ?. Could you elaborate on this? I would have thought they'd just wheech out the pipes but perhaps they're waiting for nature to do this for them!

Neil from Edinburgh

The pipes are out lying at the side of the road. The tar road surface has gone as well, it is almost the same as it was before work started. The only thing i dont like is the way the bridge is wider than the road and the white lines make it look worse.

The Islay Ranter from Islay

bizzarely, they have completely removed the rather neat piece of road that was constructed as a 'by pass' while the bridge was being rebuilt. no idea why
