Robert the Bruce dies – 1329

After years of illness Bruce dies. Theories about the cause of his sickness range from leprosy to syphilis. His body is interred at Dunfermline Abbey after his heart is removed in accordance with his death bed decree. Video: A history of Scotland: Bishop Makes King.
