John MacDonald (John of Islay) faced rebellion after agreeing a pact with the English to aid in the conquest of Scotland. John's own son, Angus Òg, challenged him for control of the clan in the battle of 'Bloody Bay' off the coast of Mull. Video: A history of Scotland: Language is Power.
