About this site

This site has been designed for students studying Intermediate and Higher Modern Studies. It corresponds closely with Study Theme 3C: The United States of America (Intermediate 2) and Study Theme 3C: The United States of America.

The site has two separate sections: the Reference section takes you through the political structure of the United States and looks at issues such as voting and representation. In the Case Studies section, we've taken three issues that are important in the USA today. Refer back to the Reference pages as you read the case studies and relate the intended workings of the political system with what happens in the real world.

The site concentrates on the political issues rather than the social and economic issues in the USA that are dealt with in both Intermediate and Higher Modern Studies. However, you may still find some useful information with regard to social and economic issues in the Case Studies section, particularly in the Immigration case study.

Please take a look at the site map for an overview of the structure and content of the site.
