The 'Rough Wooing'
These are the instructions Henry VIII gave to the Earl of Hertford to carry out the 'Rough Wooing', written in 1544.
Put all to fire and sword!
Steal everything you can from Edinburgh, then burn it and knock it down.
This will always remind the Scots of their punishment for being disloyal. Do what you can to
knock down the Castle
burn the Palace at Holyrood
Ruin as many villages around Edinburgh as you can.
Destroy St Andrews and spare nobody who is friendly or related to Cardinal Beaton.
