Q. How useful is this source as evidence about the treatment of Irish immigrants over a hundred years?

At first the Irish were distrusted, treated as comic, drunken and superstitious. Over a period of one hundred years, the absorption of Irish into Scottish life must be considered one of the achievements of Scottish history.
