Floods cause
Several factors played a part in the flooding. Find and select the 3 hotspots on the map of Inverness to discover what caused the flooding.
Inverness
Inverness is built on the narrow coastal flood plain of the River Ness and its tributaries. Since the 1950s the city has almost doubled in size. The surrounding flood plain has been developed to build new houses. In built-up areas there are a lot of impermeable surfaces. Impermeable surfaces do not allow rainfall to be absorbed into the land. This increases the chance of the land flooding.
