2. source on income/employment for locals
3. slow down depopulation
4. improve services and roads

Disadvantages
1. increase in use and possible erosion of the landscape
2. improvement in services/roads only for some areas - 'honeypots'
3. increase in house prices as outsides buy up properties as 'second homes'
4. loss of housing for locals
