What different type of land use are there along the course of a river from the source to the mouth? Why do these changes happen?
|
| Answer |
The land use will change due to the changing nature of the relief, soils and climate. In the upper course the main activities will be sheep farming, forestry and recreation. As you move into the middle course cattle/arable farming will take over with settlement in the form of villages and towns, industry may be linked to farming, roads and railways will be built with associated bridges. Further downstream in the lower course you will find arable farming, industry, large settlements, docks, ports............
